The Patient Financial Journey

The original design of this poster focused too much on the emotional journey of paying for healthcare. As a result, it was never printed. The client wanted me to create a new version, focus on the Q&A presented in the original graphic, and for it to not be as emotional as the version previously created.

Where the Client Started

Where the Client Started

This original PowerPoint slide already had a lot of success and positive feedback on how the info was presented. She did not want to stray too far from that. The focus needed to remain on what information the patients want and when during the traditional revenue cycle.

The Presented Options

The Presented Options

Unfolded, this poster is 11x17 inches, which is significant when the tables the members sit at can be small with little space. Two of these concepts play with folding to a smaller size. The third is unfolded, which is what the client expected when she asked for placements. The first two concepts were to show her what was possible beyond what she expected.

The Final Version

The Final Version

The final shown was based on the first option in the group I presented. This concept folded twice, revealing new information each time it unfolded. After the first fold, members could see the traditional revenue cycle as they were familiar with it. Hiding the right side, the patient’s perspective, symbolized their blind spot since that perspective was rarely considered. By opening the poster fully, their eyes were metaphorically opened to the other side of the experience during the revenue cycle.
